I recently received a puzzling call from one of my clients thanking me for a donation-in-kind that he would be obtaining this coming weekend. He is not literate and had asked a neighbor to read the contents of a letter he had received. As he had previously been the recipient of such donations before under the auspices of my agency, he assumed that this time was no different. I had to inform him that my agency had made no such arrangement this time, and that he should bring the letter to me instead so I could assist in identifying the benefactor.
